"Died, Jan. 29th, Elizabeth Thompson.
Deceased was born in Virginia July 3d, (sic) 1811, and was aged 83 years, 6 months and 26 days.
Was married to James Thompson, Sept. 8th, 1830. Her maiden name was Davidson.
They were early settlers of Bear Creek township, and raised a large family.
Three children are left to mourn the loss of their best friend, Mary Collins, of Basco, Ellen Goodway, of Ferris, and Albert, of Stratton , Neb. ,
besides numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had been a consistent member of the M. E. Church for over 60 years,
and her funeral was held in the church of her choice, at this place, conducted by the pastor in charge,
Bro. Jasper Miller, of West Point, and the remains laid away beside her husband who had preceded her many years.
Grandma was a woman of kind and gentle disposition, ever ready to do a charitable act if in her power,
and with an acquaintance of seventeen years, never heard her say a harmful word of any one.
She was a devoted christian (sic) and numbered with a few early pioneers who are fast disappearing from our midst.
Peace to her ashes."
