"HOLD RITES FOR W. F. PRIESSMAN, BASCO MERCHANT"
"Funeral services for Frederick William Priessman, 84,
widely-known retired merchant of Basco, were held at 2 P.M. Friday in the
Basco Baptist church. Masonic rites were held at the services.
Burial was in West cemetery at Basco.
Mr. Priessman died Wednesday, June 26, at his home in
Basco, where he was owner of the general store
for the past 40 years, and was active in business until about six months ago.
Born in Palmyra , Missouri., September 16, 1861, the son of George and Helen Steffanie Priessman,
he lived with his parents in Keokuk , Iowa , for a short time and came to Basco 70 years ago.
He was a member of a large family of children, only four of
which lived to maturity.
Mr. Priessman, his brothers, Lou and Rudolph, and his sister, Mrs. Georgia George, all now deceased.
On October 6, 1883, he married Esther Ann Mourning, who
preceded him in death last October.
To this union were born two children, Mrs. Ethel Steffey of Basco and Dr. Frank Priessman
of Keokuk , Iowa , who survive.
For 50 years, he was a member of the Basco Baptist
church.
He was also a 50-year member of the Basco Masonic lodge and a member of the Quincy Consistory.
He was a charter member of the Eastern Star.
Besides his children, he is survived by four grandchildren;
several great-grandchildren;
nieces and nephews. One granddaughter, Jean Priessman, preceded him in death."
