James E. Doughty
Biography

James E. Doughty was born in Nicholas Co., Ky., Nov. 23, 1804, and is a son of John
and Jane (Ellis) Doughty. The former lived to the age of 96 years. Mr. D. was married about 1827, to Mary McMahon, by whom he had 7
children, of whom 6 are living; viz., Wm. T., S. J., John R., Ann H., Ellen H. and Z. Taylor. Our subject came to Warsaw in 1843.
Mrs. Doughty died in June, 1864, and Mr. D. again married, May 6, 1866, this time, Mrs. Ruth J. Cobalt, by whom he has had 4
children; of these, 3 are living; viz., Barton S., Clara V., and Keturah C. Mr. D. went overland to California in 1852, with an ox
team, and returned in 1854. He now is engaged in farming, and resides on sec. 32; P. O., Sutter.
