W. J. Pitney, Justice of the Peace and Collector, was born in 1824 and raised
on a farm; was married in Ohio in 1846 to Anna Richard, a native of Ohio, and they have had 7 children, 3 of whom are living, Frank
B., Florence T. and Wilborn R. Mr. P. has been Justice of the Peace 14 years; he owns 30 acres of land joining Augusta, and one lot
with dwelling, and five other lots. He is a member of the M. E. Church and a Republican.
